Chris’ rant # 104

#8 – you’ve never done that

Ok well this might just be me but when people are talking about something that I have never done or seen been there, my natural response is always "I’ve never done that", then for some reason a lot of people respond to that my saying "you’ve never done that!!!" and I respond "that is what I just said". I don’t know if it is people just wanting to hear their own voice or something but I have never understood the need for this phrase and every time people say this to me I just want to explode. I usually refrain from exploding and just ask them if they didn’t hear me. Then there is always an awkward exchange between us while the person catches up. This phrase just annoys me to death. If I say I have never done something you don’t have to confirm it by asking again because I understand English just fine, not that I speak it well all the time but my understanding is 100%

Chris’ rant # 103

#9 – Is that it?

Have you ever told a story to someone thinking that it is amazing, interesting or just to tell some new event and instead of excitement as a response you get the dreaded line, "is that it" and then the person follows this with their own story that they think is better then yours. I hate this, for some reason some people feel like stories are some type of competition and have to beet you story, and there is a big difference in just telling a similar story and trying to tell a better story. I don’t know why but some people just can’t listen to a story and say "wow that’s cool" but then again everyone probably does this every once in a while and I’m sure I have done this, so that is why it is not higher on the list.

Chris’ rant #102

Ok well I have been compiling a list of the top 10 things that annoy me and I am now going to present them in my next 10 rants.

#10 – stupid people

This is a very wide range of things but I couldn’t just list everything stupid that people do that make me mad because then this rant would be a lot longer. So I, like most people I assume, am quite annoyed with the constant bombardment of stupid people that seem to infest the world. No matter where you go they seem to be everywhere. You would think that because I am in med school that I might not have to deal with this as much but I sometimes think that med students are even stupider then regular people, well at least stupid Katie makes up for all the smart med students. It constantly amazes me the stupid things that people think or say that just seems to be wrong on so many levels it is mind-boggling. Alone this does not bother me as much as the things to come but because of the quantity of stupid people it ranks at # 10

Chris’ rant # 101

I think I might have super powers and they are beginning to manifest. So today at dinner I was talking to Luke and looking right at him when from behind him and to my right about at the 1:30 position my friend Debashree through a straw wrapper at me and without breaking eye contact I instinctively moved my hand and caught it. Now first of all for those of you who have seen me throw and catch this is not a skill that I have mastered so catching anything for me is good, catching something thrown at me when I’m not expecting it is awesome, and catching something when I’m not expecting it and am not looking is well… super-awesome-amazing-WOW so the only way I can explain it is that I must have super powers and I am just realizing them. Stay tuned to any more development on my new powers

Chris rant # 100

Ok well rant 100 on V-day, it is a little hare to do because I am pretty happy now so I think I will review my first rant that went something like this

This rant is devoted to the one day of the year that no matter how fine you feel about being alone it makes sure to shove it in you face and make you feel like crap something fierce. The one-day of the year made by couples to make single people, like me, feel bad because couples need something to do. F--- you Valentines Day. Did I mention that it is just a marketing ploy, the least they could do is make up some religious reason like Christmas did.

Well I won’t disagree with myself, but I did like making single people feel bad and I still think it is a marketing scam. It’s funny what a difference a year makes.

blah

Ok well no one may care, which is completely understandable, but on the 14 will be my rants 1 year anniversary and I have decided for the next year that I will continue my rants, hopefully doing more then 100, and also add a quote of the day. Now I wont be able to do a quote for each day because some days I will be without computer but I will do my best to put up as much as possible

Chris' rant # 99

Here is a little bed time story for all the guys.

LONDON (Reuters) - A British woman was sentenced to two and a half years in jail Thursday for ripping off her ex-lover's testicle with her bare hands during a drunken brawl after he refused her sex. Amanda Monti, 24, flew into a rage in May last year after Geoffrey Jones, 37, who had ended their long-term relationship, rejected her advances. She grabbed him by the genitals, tearing off his left testicle, then hid it in her mouth before a friend of Jones handed it back to him saying "that's yours." Monti, of Birkenhead, near Liverpool, pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding at an earlier hearing.

Now after reading that I think that we all learned a very important lesson:
1. Never refuse a drunken woman’s advances
2. Don’t go out with a crazy lady

Chris’ rant # 98

Well I would like everyone to mark this day February 10, 2005 on their calendar as the day the worst episode of ER ever. Yes you read that right, over 10 full seasons and now finally in their 11th season they have out done themselves by creating the worst episode EVER! In this episode Dr. Weaver finds her real birth mother but I kept asking myself one important question, why do I care? In my opinion Dr. Weaver has always been a… well I can’t cuss, so lets just say she is not nice. In the beginning she was always been more concerned administration and climbing the latter then about taking care of patients. eventually she finally climbed up to taking Dr. Romano position in more ways then one, because she is not nice and she actually took his job after he died. The point is why do I care about someone I don’t like fining their long lost mom and not ending up on good terms with that person, it was completely uneventful, and no one died, and no one hooked up with anyone, and it sucked. blah!!

Chris’ rant # 97

Well today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of lent. This is not a normal rant because I am not really complaining about anything, I just wanted to tell you all what I am giving up so hopefully those of you who are reading this will help me to remember when I mess up. I have a pretty big list and some of the things are going to be harder then others but I will do my best no matter how hard it is and will try not to make any rants about what I’m giving up after this.
So here is my list of things I am giving up:
1. Cussing
2. Fast food
3. Popping my knuckles
4. Alcohol
5. Smoking
6. Driving more then 5mph over the speed limit
7. Sex
8. Candy
9. Pop
10. And I will try to floss every night

Chris’ rant # 96

Well it snowed yesterday and I would just like to say that Kansas City does not know how to clear streets. I don’t understand how Kansas City can be so bad at it. The schools in the area were let out before it even started snowing so its not like they didn’t know that is was coming. Oh well, I made it home safely so it doesn’t matter, and don’t even get me started about how people don’t know how to drive in the snow.

Chris’ rant # 95

Well the super bole was last night and I have 2 things to comment about. One the Patriots won, yay. And two I would just like to say that the commercials were not that great. The one with the guy getting caught "killing" the cat was the best and the ones with the monkeys was good but the rest were just average commercials. It just seamed like the commercials and the half time show was really watered down. I don’t want to see watered down crap during the super bole I was to see awesome. People need to just grow up and realize what happened last year was a horrible decision but that doesn’t mean that we all have to suffer for years afterwards. Nothing will make everyone happy, but we have to move on and make some good commercials that make me laugh. So let it be written so let it be done.

Chris’ rant # 94

So this weekend I didn’t have to work with the one girl who I dislike greatly. The most amazing thing is that usually by about 8 on Sundays I am so tired I have to go to bed, but without the stress of working with this girl I was not tired at all. I never really realized how much work it is trying to be nice to people I don’t like or just being around someone you don’t like. I’m sure we have all been in a situation that requires us to tolerate people we don’t like and now that I know what it is like without this person I have some to a conclusion: you should do one of the following to fix the problem:
1. Tell the person you don’t like them. if things are in the open you don’t have to be fake
2. Find out a way that you don’t have to be around this person.
3. Kill them
4. Continue being fake and suffer the entire time
5. Continue being nice but constantly be sarcastic and be mean in a sarcastic tone that way the person cant get mad at you, then just hope that the sarcasm drives them away like it does to most people.

I bet you cant guess which option I will choose

Chris’ rant # 93

So just because I know a lot of you were wondering the 2nd was groundhog day and despite all hope Punxsutawney Phil just decided that we will be having another 6 weeks of winter. Well I don’t know about you but that really sucks. First of all winter really needs to go away especially because this winter we didn’t even get that much snow. Secondly who in the world gave the power to predict winter to a big fat groundhog. Of course he wants winter to stay, he gets to go back into his hole and sleep for another 6 weeks while the rest of us suffer. Lastly who cares what a ground hog have to say and when did this holiday come around, it seams just as stupid and made up as valentines day, except that if I make fun of groundhog day no one will get mad at me.

Chris' rant # 92

So in this communications class we have, which I have just made my previous rant about, our teacher makes us own what we are saying by using I and not we or you. This might not seam bad to people who are not in the class but try and pay attention to how many times you say we or you when really referring to yourself and then imagine someone correcting you and saying "I" every time you do this and believe me you would get very upset, or I would get very upset because I don’t know how you feel. I think that we all agree that this would be very annoying, or I think it was annoying because again I have no idea how you all felt etc… and this went on the entire time in class and she even did it to the other teacher which is crazy, I think that he was annoyed by it as well. I am fine with owning my feeling but when the teacher interrupts you all the time saying "I" you just want to hit her in the face, or I just wanted to hit her in the face. It just seams like she has this superiority complex and at least thinks that she has some great enlightenment to share with us. The major problems comes when I realized that I have learned more from things that I have shit out of my ass then I have learned from her so far. Did I mention that she is a bad teacher, just making sure I covered my own personal feelings.

Chris' rant # 91

Ok today we all spent 4 hours in hell. To those in the class you might not remember because you blocked the horrible memory but it happened and I’m sorry. To those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, let me begin. Today I spent 4 hours talking about how to interview people and how to sound like I care. I can honestly say that I did not learn a thing and if anything I am stupider for being there. We had to learn communication on the most basic level. We had to learn how to lead conversation on like being silent, nod our heads, say ya, hmmm, really. And we learned how to elicit feeling by saying how did that make you feel, I had a similar experience that made me upset too. Its not even bad enough that we were told about it but we also had to practice these "new skills" in small groups and out loud in class. Basically we learned in 4 hours what I hope most of us all knew, and have been doing for many years, at least 11 years, I don’t know. To the people in that class I would like to know when you think that you learned how to talk to people well and were practicing what we did today.

Chris' rant # 90

Ok well I have thought about this before and I hope that I’m not the only one thinking this, which is very possible, but those damn charity bracelets that everyone wear really bug the hell out of me. Now let me stop you all now who are thinking that I don’t like giving to charities because I think that giving to something you believe in is great and more people should. My problem comes from the fact I am a firm believer that you should do good for the sake of doing good. Putting something on your wrist announces to people that you give to something, which takes away from the selflessness of truly giving for just the sake of giving. Also something that bothers me is that these bracelets seam more like a fad that everyone seams to want to be in on, and although it is good that people are in on this fad what happen when it is not cool anymore. Will people stop giving because those bracelets are not cool? The take home point: take those bracelets off and then only two people will know you give, you and god, and I cant think of two more important people.
